IDA Members Share Best Practices, Spread Cheer
The LA Fashion District Business Improvement District (BID) took inspiration from the 2013 IDA World Conference for what became one of their most successful marketing campaigns to date. Taking cue from fellow IDA members and inspired by conference workshops, the BID conducted a Random Acts of Kindness campaign over the 2013 holiday season. The goal of the campaign was to “spread kindness and holiday cheer” among the Fashion District community as a way of rewarding those who shop, dine, do business, and live in the district.

Downtown Rebirth: Documenting the Live-Work Dynamic in 21st Century US Cities
Thriving downtowns, town centers, and urban, anchor institution districts have become major centers for employment with growing populations living in and around these mixed-use nodes. This research highlights 231 employment centers in the 150 largest cities, based on the number of jobs, in the United States and provides several data resources and maps for downtown managers and civic leaders to benchmark progress on their path to sustained employment and residential growth.
