The Emerging Leader Fellowship brings together a cohort of IDA professionals from within the urban district management industry. The fellows learn essential leadership and place management skills, and gain practical tools in the areas of place-based economic development, the live-work-play experience, and public-private partnerships.

About the Program

As the name suggests, this program is aimed at those who have chosen urban district management as a career path. If you are currently a CEO or executive director of a small to mid-sized organization looking to advance your skills, or a senior staff member in a large organization with aspirations to lead your own organization one day, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss. The popular 2016 program accepted 26 professionals, hailing from three countries and 18 provinces or states.

The program takes places June 11-16 in New York City, New York, and includes instruction from partners at the Baruch College, City University of New York, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Coro New York Leadership Center. IDA professionals at several business improvement districts throughout the city will provide technical in-the-field training.

Cost: $2,750 includes program materials, breakfast, lunch and dinner
Applications: Applications are due to IDA by Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at midnight ET. Applicants must complete several brief essay questions and submit the following: two references who provide letters of support, an updated resume, and a recent headshot.
Details: Space is limited to 26 professionals. Attendees must be IDA members. Hotel accommodations and travel are at the expense of the attendee. Attendees will be required to arrive on the afternoon of Sunday, June 11 and depart on the afternoon of Friday, June 16, 2017.
