2018 Master Talks Announced
Katharine Eagan Kelleman, Chief Executive Officer, Port Authority of Allegheny County
Prior to joining Port Authority, Katharine Eagan Kelleman worked at Hillsborough Area Regional (HART) in Tampa, Fla. in several executive leadership roles, including chief of service development, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer. During her tenure at HART, Kelleman grew ridership by more than 20 percent; adopted technologies like the OneBusAway application; expanded public-private partnerships with entities like MegaBus, Red Coach and Coast Bike Share; launched a regional fare program; and oversaw HART HyperLink – the nation's first transit agency-operated rideshare program. Prior to her time at HART, she worked in leadership roles for the Maryland Transit Administration and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). She began her career in public transit as a transit planner in San Angelo, Texas. Kelleman received her Bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and her Master’s degree in public administration from San Angelo State University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and serves on the Board of Directors for the American Public Transit Association.
Karina Ricks, Director of Mobility & Infrastructure, City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Karina Ricks is Director of Mobility and Infrastructure for the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this capacity, she oversees the introduction and integration of ultra-modern mobility services and the design, maintenance, and operation of legacy infrastructure. Karina is driven by a passion for equitably delivering the physical mobility vital to the social and economic mobility of city stakeholders. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, Karina resided in Washington, DC and contributed to the dramatic transformation of that city as Director of Transportation Planning, introducing bike share, modern streetcar, electric charging infrastructure and car share services. Between her terms serving the public, Karina was in the private sector as a Principal and Board Member of Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates, establishing their Mid-Atlantic presence and leading the firm’s multimodal practice on the East Coast. Karina is known for developing integrated, implementable mobility solutions that serve local values and aspirations. She is a graduate of Michigan State and Cornell Universities, Fulbright Scholar (Latvia) and Peace Corps Volunteer (Latvia), potter and happy mother of two.
Jason Schrieber, AICP, Senior Principal, Stantec's Urban Places
Over the past 22 years, Jason Schrieber has helped hundreds of cities, institutions, and developers broaden their options for urban mobility. He’s shown governments from Boston to Abu Dhabi, how to manage parking in difficult shared
environments; helped clients develop demand-management programs that get people to choose transit, walking, and biking over cars; and has led multimodal planning efforts that range from the block to corridor to citywide levels that use
transportation investments and mobility strategies wisely to incentivize travelers to their destinations efficiently and safely, improving public health, and strengthening communities’ sense of place. Jason is helping to lead exciting new shared mobility opportunities that Stantec’s Urban Places group is creating nationwide with the coming revolutions of shared, connected, autonomous and electric vehicles—from the Tampa waterfront to Union Square in Somerville. Having recently completed several downtown mobility strategies, Jason seeks to efficiently leverage the coming benefits of shared autonomy into the compact multi-modal streets of our downtowns.

Melanie Harrington, President and CEO, Vibrant Pittsburgh
Melanie Harrington serves as the first President and CEO of Vibrant Pittsburgh, a nonprofit economic development organization that was established to build a more diverse and inclusive Pittsburgh region by spearheading initiatives to attract, retain, and elevate a diverse workforce. Prior to Vibrant Pittsburgh, Melanie served as the president of the American Institute for Managing Diversity, Inc. (AIMD), a national nonprofit diversity think tank. She is an expert panelist for the 2016 Edition of the Global Diversity and Inclusion Benchmarks and a graduate of both Leadership Pittsburgh and Leadership Atlanta. Melanie is an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of International and Public Affairs. Melanie received her Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Psychology.
Caitlin McLaughlin, Executive Vice President, PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.
Caitlin McLaughlin is an executive vice president and director of Talent and Total Rewards at PNC. She oversees the Talent Planning, Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards functions for the company in order to ensure that PNC is focused on delivering on its employee value proposition and commitment to a talent-focused culture in every interaction with employees. Prior to joining PNC, McLaughlin was managing director and global head of campus recruiting and program management for Citigroup. McLaughlin is a member of the executive committee of Vibrant Pittsburgh and the board of directors of the Forte Foundation, Carlow University and Partner4Work. McLaughlin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Political Communications.
Shana Zollar, Chief Human Resources Officer, Dwellworks
Shana leads the organization’s human resources functions globally, including responsibility for company culture, compensation and benefits, associate development, succession planning, human resources policies and organizational structure. Shana has been engaged in each of the company’s US domestic and international acquisitions, including navigating each country’s respective employment related policies, laws and programs, while realigning roles and maximizing and retaining talent. Prior to Dwellworks, Shana held several positions in the human resources field, including as HR Manager for SIRVA Relocation and as the Lead HR Generalist for e-bank. Shana earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Ohio University of Athens, Ohio. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Bridge Builders class of 2013 and the recipient of the 2013 Cleveland Crain’s HR Executive of the Year award.

Walk through Downtown Pittsburgh, a city evolving over the last 250 years, to experience beautiful historical architecture and learn about modern-day developments that are creating a sustainable city for the future. You’ll hear from representatives of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, developers, and other downtown stakeholders about the transformation of Downtown Pittsburgh since the early 1900’s. This tour will be approximately three hours on foot with various stopping points.
Multi-Modal Tour of Greater Downtown Pittsburgh ($50)
Wednesday, May 9th | 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Bring your walking, biking, and boating shoes for this mobile tour of Greater Downtown. Obtain insights into decades of riverfront park development, the transformation of parking lots into sports and entertainment destinations, and an evolving skyline due to commercial development from the experts delivering these changes. This tour will be approximately three hours on foot, bike, and boat with various stopping points. Bikes (and a boat) will be provided.
Oakland Transit and Walking Tour ($50)
Friday, May 11th | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Hop on a bus with IDA and ECUDF attendees for a three-mile trip to Oakland, the third largest employment center in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after Center City Philadelphia and Downtown Pittsburgh. In Oakland, you will experience the heart of the region’s eds, meds, and tech economy bookended by the campuses of University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Hear from the Oakland Business Improvement District, InnovatePGH, and other stakeholders involved with the creation of new public spaces like Schenley Plaza, Forbes Digital Plaza, and major new private investments on this part-bus, part-walking tour.
