New in 2019, IDA is launching a series of topical summits based on the IDA framework of professional practice. The IDA University & College Town Summit will be hosted in Raleigh, NC to share strategies, build partnerships, and find inspiration. The summit takes place on April 3-4, 2019 and focuses on the unique downtowns that host colleges and universities as the backdrop to their urban spaces. IDA and the Business Improvement Association of British Columbia (BIABC) present a Pacific Northwest regional conference in Surrey, B.C., Canada, April 29-May 1, 2019. Join us in beautiful Surrey - one of the fastest growing municipalities in British Columbia - for the 30th anniversary of BIABC and this year's conference "Evolution of BIAs." The 2019 agenda is full of great sessions spanning many areas of focus from planning or marketing & special events to advocacy, public safety, economic development and more. The IDA Economic Development Summit will take place in Oklahoma City, OK, May 1-2, 2019.Experts will share best practices on enhancing downtowns' economic impacts on cities and states, discuss retail and development strategies, and trends impacting downtown progress. Registration is now open.


The IDA Place Branding & Placemaking Summit will take place in Huntsville, AL May 15-17, 2019. Interactive sessions will allow attendees to engage in hands-on creative placemaking experiences as well as develop place branding campaigns in real time. International town and urban leaders came together last year in Berlin for the third World Towns Leadership Summit. In 2019, the event will take place in Tokyo, Japan, May 13-16. Registration information is now available.


The Emerging Leader Fellowship is a week-long experiential program in June that brings together a cohort of IDA professionals from within the urban district management industry. The fellows learned essential leadership and place management skills, and gain practical tools in the areas of place-based economic development, the live-work-play experience, and public-private partnerships. The 2019 program will take place June 16-21, 2019 in New York City.


The International Downtown Association (IDA) and co-host, Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, proudly present the IDA 65th Annual Conference & Tradeshow, October 28-30, 2019 in Baltimore, Maryland. IDA's West Coast regional took place March 19-21, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA (LA Fashion District), in partnership with the California Downtown Association.
